Will Airsoft Players Answer the Call of Duty?

November is here, and that means it's time for the latest edition of Activision's Call of Duty (CoD) series. As airsoft aficionados, we love to flop down at home and get some digital military shooter action going when we're not out there on our own battlefield. Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) launched on November 8 and the world's largest third party publisher of video games is pulled out all the stops in the newest entry in its ridiculously successful military shooter series.

With MW3 hype at a fervor now that's it out, we figured it was a good time to take a break from the airsoft talk that dominates our blog and shift gears a bit. We're thinking none of you will mind considering how popular our CoD giveaway was a little while back. Those of you who aren't gamers need not worry, though: our regular airsoft talk will be back in our next blog.

There's a brand new leveling system that emphasizes more than just your kill/death ratio and allows players of all styles to rank up and unlock new weapon attachments and more in the multiplayer. The single player mode is focused on the pursuit of series antagonist, Vladimir Malakov. The Russian Federation is on the offensive again and players will have to take control of several different characters in order to save the U.S. and Europe.

Activision called it the most anticipated release in video game history, but a formidable challenger has appeared this year. Battlefield 3 (BF3) dropped back on October 25, and gamers and the press have been heaping on the praise. Many are underwhelmed by its single player, but the multiplayer in BF3 is phenomenal.

Will you guys be answering the call again this year, or has Electronic Arts' BF3 swayed you? Let us know by shooting a comment our way. Before you answer, though, check out this hysterical new live action trailer for MW3, the n00b and the vet. And don't forget to take a peek at our other blog posts detailing the events we have coming up.

Put an End to the Fourth Reich on Sunday, November 27

It's the year 2018 and the Winter Solstice is here. A dreadful civil war breaks out on the miniature island nation of "Shiper." The death toll spikes up quickly and reaches the tens of thousands. The American military gets involved in the fiasco and that provides us with some great fictional scenarios for another one of our legendary airsoft.

The Shiperian Civil War was ignited for various reasons that involved a number of different factions within the country. Since it's an island, Shiper's internal resources are naturally scarce. Much has to be imported from foreign nations, but the resources that are located on the island are highly-valued, especially by the outside world. This situation has caused years of disrupt and a number of small clashes over control of these assets. When the large country's large population of underprivileged finally rose up in rebellion against the wealthy powers that control the island in violent protests demanding better civil rights, opportunists saw their chance. Armed to the teeth, this wing of the rebellion began storming natural resource harvesting facilities and all out chaos erupted when the military struck back in an attempt to restore order.

The Americans got fully embroiled in the war effort starting with the battle at "Kamakmuran," the nation's most vital seaport. Their reasons for involvement in this seemingly inconsequential war revolved around "The Remnants of the Third Reich," an assembly that was organized by Hitler himself back in '44. With the Third Reich faltering, Hitler sent top members of the Hitler Youth program to Shiper in hopes of sparking a future revolution there. Decades later, his plan has finally come to fruition after the neo-Nazis worked feverishly for years to spark the aforementioned rebellion from behind the scenes.

Each of the rebel factions are secretly headed up by these individuals who plan to seize control of the republic for themselves. United under the common banner of the Concord of the Revolution (CTR), this 20,000 strong militia has held strong despite clashes with the American military. But once a lost reconnaissance team discovers a remote outpost being used as a checkpoint for CTR supply transportation, the perfect scenario is established for an airsoft reenactment.

Join us on November 27 when the CTR clash with the U.S. forces in the largest battle of the war between the two. Head on over to our Facebook page for full rules and details on how this airsoft skirmish will play out.

Join Us for Our Operation Thunderbolt Airsoft Reenactment

Last weekend we successfully reenacted one of World War II's major skirmishes: The Battle of Stalingrad. It was an awesome time and we'd like to thank everyone who came out for it. We're following it up on November 20 with another great airsoft event. Israeli Special Forces carried out a secretive counter-terrorist hostage-rescue mission back in July of 1976 and we're going to recreate the scenario right here on our own battlefield.

It started on June 27 when a plane from Air France that had 248 passengers aboard was hijacked by terrorists from Palestine and Germany who flew it into Entebbe, which is near the Ugandan capital city of Kampala. Aside from a single French citizen, all of the non-Israeli passengers were let go almost immediately.

The terrorists from the organizations Revolutionary Cells and Popular Front made it clear that they would kill the hostages if certain prisoners were not released. Acting on intel from Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, a rescue op was planned and executed. On the night of July 4, transport planes brought in 100 commandos. After spending a week in the planning phase, the operation lasted 90 minutes and resulted in 102 hostages being saved. Five commandos were wounded and Lt. Colonel Yonatan Netanyahu, the commander, was killed. Three hostages were unfortunately killed as well. The commandos successfully took down all of the hijackers, 45 Ugandan soldiers and thirty MiG-17 and MiG-21 jets from the Uganda Air Force. A fourth hostage was also killed at a nearby hospital.

Operation Thunderbolt, or Operation Jonathan in remembrance of the unit leader in some circles, is considered by many to be one of the most successful and daring spec ops missions of all time. And we're going to reenact the whole thing on our airsoft field. You're free to use any airsoft guns you want, but we will be employing strict uniform, FPS and gear requirements. Head on over to our official Facebook page for full details. Hope to see you out there!

Ahead of the Game with Airsoft Gear

The wrong gear will have you stumbling all over the place and will make you the ultimate easy target. Your Airsoft gear should be easy to move in, provide you with protection, and improve your speed. Using the tips below keeps you ahead of the game and ready for combat.

* When you are preparing to go out on the field make sure you have a sufficient supply of equipment, but avoid over doing it. The last thing you want is to be slowed down by an unnecessary load of equipment. While at the same time you do not want to pack an insufficient amount.

* Choose gear that is lightweight and enables you to multi-task. With the use of tactical vests you have protection from oncoming fire, the ability to store your ammo and other supplies, and enhanced mobility.

* In the game of Airsoft you will find yourself running, jumping, and leaping to avoid enemy capture. A pair of flip flops is not going to give you the traction let alone protection you will need. With the right pair of boots you will increase your speed and reduce slips and falls.

* Wearing neon green or red for your gear is not a wise choice. You want to wear Airsoft gear that will allow you to blend in with the scenery not stand out. Select camouflage gear, forest green, dark brown and beige colors to conceal yourself.

* Ever gotten hit on your bare hand with an airsoft BB? Well, if you haven’t you should avoid the experience. Protect your hands with gloves, so you can freely expose your hands without being in pain later.

* Airsoft BB’s are safe unless they come into contact with your eyes. At all times, protect your eyes with goggles when you are on the battlefield or near an arena with open fire.
